September 2024 Newsletter

It’s been an interesting year for marketing in Scotland, with only a 2% salary increase in 2023, but recruitment is definitely moving forward in a positive way. In the past 4 weeks, the market has picked up with regards to roles available.  Roles that we’ve been working on have been rather niche in terms of a particular skill set, whether that be focused on paid search or internal communications.  Companies have defiantly been needing support when it comes to finding people with that focused skill set.

Having read information with regards to salaries in Scotland, the average salary of a generalist marketing professional sits around £39,000 and a whooping 71% of people are happy with their current pay.

Flexible working in the form of hours or days in the office is still very much a priority for people who are looking for their next role as well as salary being offered.

We attended the CIM event on September 24, 2024, at VEGA, Glasgow. It was all about building your personal brand and hearing from experts on how to stand out in today’s competitive market which was super informative!  It was lovely to engage with the marketing community as well.

A highlight of this month has definitely been events within the creative space. We attended the launch of Curio, an event which saw creatives from across Scotland come together to discuss what curiosity means to them and how they wouldn’t be where they are without embracing it.

The Marketing Society Scotland hosted their Trend Spotting – Creativity event, another brilliant collision of creative minds. There was such a strong focus on the importance of connections, whether it be with other individuals, situations or your target audience it is what fundamentally brings success. The reoccurring topic of nostalgia and how important it is to balance this with newness was such an interesting one to see so many takes on with the most important message being – be brave!
